Angus Moncrieff

Music Preparation

I provide notation services for composers and arrangers, and have 15 years’ experience on professional projects. I work quickly, and deliver parts and scores to an extremely high degree of accuracy and readability so that your recording sessions can run smoothly.

To get the best results from your players it’s important to present them with the appropriate degree of specificity, and I am fully fluent with notation styles both traditional and contemporary (such as slashes, rhythmic notation, drum kit notation, etc.) I’m equally comfortable preparing straight orchestral-style parts as well as parts for jazzers and rhythm section.

For each project I collate a comprehensive list of cues to be recorded, including which have solos, etc. and can suggest an efficient recording order if required.

I use Sibelius notation software, but also have 10+ years’ experience with Finale. Typically I work from clients’ Logic files, but would aim to be flexible if you use different DAW software — or of course I’d be equally happy working from a good old-fashioned hand-written score!

Selected Music Prep. Credits

I’ve prepared parts and scores for over a hundred professional recording sessions for composers including Dominik Scherrer, Jeremy Birchall and Chris Hussey.
